Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Rating- 3 out of 5 on first read, 2 out of 5 after the series was read

It's basically a modern Gothic. Flawed hero, a girl with something special about her, that she doesn't quite understand yet. Angsty, overly dramatic, extremely chaste, and not very well written. But, in a way, really, really good. I totally got sucked (ignore the pun) into it. And, well, it's about teenagers and vampires. If you're jonesing for something mindless, like on a long plane trip, try out these books. I'm sure I'll finish the 2nd one in a couple days. The good thing is, the series is done, so you don't have to wait around for the books to come out.

Did I love the book? Not really. I like it less the more I think about it. Edward is a creepy stalker. Bella is pathetic. In a way, they deserve each other. But, seriously, if you were an immortal vampire, would you waste your time hanging around at a high school? I can think of no age group that is less interesting than high school aged kids.
